Human Rights and Environment Development Center (HURENDEC) is Non- governmental, Non- political and youth lead organization. It is established in 2050 B.S. with the initiation of local social developmental activist in Udayapur. It is registered in the Chief District Administrative office Udayapur.
HURENDEC is leading organization in eastern development region of Nepal and it has leadership role in Udayapur district. It has played crucial role in ten years long armed conflict and insurgency period for human rights protection, peace building, promotion of good governance and conflict transformation process. It has initiated to harmonize local issues in order to build national policy with the close participation of local people. It has formed a network of civil society organizations accompanying with many local leaders for advocating for national peace and Constituent Assembly election after the second people’s movement. It continuously advocates for minority people and women’s right activities to uplift the status of rural women facilitating to create employment opportunities and social wellbeing.
It has specific objectives to develop local leadership capacity building for social justice, to increase the participation of minority people in politics for good governance, to protect child rights, to prevent girls trafficking, to advocate for health service for all, education for all as welcome to school program and community mediation program as different activities addressing multidimensional prospective of community development with building partnership of different Government line agencies and nongovernment development actors.
HURENDEC is human rights based organization. It has various experiences related to child rights from its establishment to till this date. HURENDEC has completed various projects related to child rights with several development partners like : UNICEF, INSEC, World Vision International, Triyuga Municipality etc. At present, HURENDEC has 3 projects and among them one project has health related project including outreach clinic/birthing center building construction activity. The three running projects are MCHN, funded by World Vision International Nepal which is working for well-being of children under 5 years and ensuring their nutrition status as well support to reach health facilities to vulnerable people, another project is PSI funded Women Health Project which is also working in the field of women and child rights. HDPN project which is supported from World Neighbors International which works for holistic development including health, livelihood and social mobilization on field level.
Similarly, it has special programs for advocating many social, environmental and gender related issues that need to address in government policy and law. It has organized different level of campaign programs against poverty, fatalism, patriarchal and caste system of society, which intensify the social discrimination in every ethnic group. It has solidarity of different independent organizations directly and indirectly around thousand social groups against the human rights violation and for the protection and promotion of minority people’s rights in different VDCs of Udayapur, Siraha, Saptari, Sidhuli and Khotang districts.
HURENDEC has initiated the program of community empowerment support program for peace building, good governance and consolidation of multiparty democracy of Nepal entertaining in grass root to central level linearly. The aim of programs have become successful to bring about awareness of basic human rights, good governance and faith in rule of law at the local level benefiting more youth as well as promotion of other subject related with people& advocacy at village level like community initiation for the peace restoration process during the period of conflict and conflict transformation. Presently the situation demands for the empowerment programs to raise conflict affected people in politics especially for the process of peace building and democratization. Campaign for Inclusive Awareness has efforts to support on the areas sustainability of organizational development and livelihood of local people and increase the level of participation at quantitatively and qualitatively in the politics particularly minority people.
HURENDEC is established with the initiatives of young and development professional and community leaders for social development and change the community friendly environment for better future. It has mobilized more than thousands of women, children and youth groups for their empowerment and policy advocacy. It has different strategy for different program but it has three strategies are applying for project implementation. They are media mobilization, policy advocacy and Natural resource management for resource poor people to generate income and human well-being.
It is established in 1993 with the initiation of local social developmental activist in Udayapur. It has  different special departments promoting the social, environment and gender issues advocating marginalized people’s rights for social justice. It has different working experts coordinating different development organizations for minority community people’s capacity building for their rights protection, poverty reduction and human capacity development. It has own excellent program management unit for program implementation and Executive Board has given direction policy for the effective management.
General members are the main authority agency of the organization. It maintains internal and external resources for program management in the local level. It has multi partners for external resources mobilization.
It has professional and expert team for arresting different strategies. The Executive committee guides the project and monitors the program with policy formulation as well as direct approach. Its own beautiful office with efficient 26 fulltime working staffs. It has mobilized many development experts’ facilitators as per program needs.
